The Osawatomie High School Athletic Hall of Fame, started in 2025, recognizes outstanding former Trojan teams, athletes, coaches, and individuals who have made significant contributions to Trojan athletics.

We are excited to announce the inception of a newly formed Osawatomie High School Athletic Hall of Fame. This is long overdue in recognizing the individuals and teams who have made significant impact at Osawatomie High School. The purpose of the Osawatomie High School Athletic Hall of Fame is to keep the traditions and history of the school alive and to give future Osawatomie programs a standard of excellence that is expected in this community.

1966 State Championship Football Team
9 – 0 Season
The 1966 football team had a season for the ages and captured the 1st ever team State Championship in Osawatomie High School history! The Trojans were dominant on both sides of the ball with the average score being 42-11. They finished off a perfect season by knocking off their rival Paola Panthers.

Coach Bill Freeman
Mr. Bill Freeman was a 1949 graduate of Burlington High School. Bill was a 2 sport athlete while attending BHS earning multiple letters in Football and Track.
Bill played football for Emporia State University and was a 4-year letterman.
Bill’s coaching career began at Baxter Springs High School in 1953. He coached at several more places before coming to Osawatomie in 1965. He led the Trojan football squad for 9 seasons. During this time, he accumulated a 59-23 record and that 72% winning percentage is highest in school history. He had 7 winning seasons and he led the Trojans to a state championship in 1966 and the 3A Kansas State Championship in 1973. The Trojans won the last 18 games of his coaching tenure.
Coach Freeman also coached Track and Field during his time at OHS. His squads enjoyed much success as they won several League Championships, got 2nd place at the 1973 Kansas State Indoor Track and Field Meet and a few individual State Champions.
Coach Freeman was the first wrestling coach at OHS. During his time, he had 6 kids qualify for state and had 2 state medalists.
After leaving Osawatomie, Coach Freeman went on to win 7 more state championships at Lawrence High School, 5 in football and 2 in Track and Field bringing his overall total to 10 State Championships.
Coach Freeman coached 5 players who went onto play in the NFL. He was a 2014 Kansas Sports Hall of Fame Inductee. He truly enjoyed coaching, but more importantly enjoyed seeing his students and players after they graduated and hearing about their life accomplishments. He was the mayor of Leroy for 21 years and owned The First National Bank of Leroy for 33 years along with being a farmer as well.
Coach Freeman passed away in 2015. He was married to Joan Freeman for 61 years and are the parents of Jeff Freeman and Jennifer Freeman-Lilies. They have 3 grandchildren, Tyler, Bryson and Kaitlyn and a great grandchild Connor.
Lynn Dickey – 1967
Mr. Lynn Dickey, a 1967 graduate of Osawatomie High. Lynn was a THREE SPORT athlete while attending OHS earning 3 letters each in Basketball, Football and Track and Field during his prep career.
Lynn was Honorable Mention All-State in basketball as a Junior and Honorable Mention All-American as a Senior. He led the area in scoring as a Senior with over 22 points a game. His 39 points in one game is still top 10 in school history as well as his 893 career points.
Lynn was a 3-year starter at the quarterback position for OHS. He was Honorable Mention All-State as a Junior and 1st Team All-State as a Senior. His 2114 yards passing and 32 TD’s his Senior Year are still school records. He finished his prep career passing for 387 yards and 5 TD’s against Paola. That game also wrapped a 9-0 season and led to the Trojans being voted State Champions, the first in school history!
Lynn chose to play football for Kansas State University. He was a 2x 1st Team All-Big 8 quarterback as well as being voted All-Time Big 8 quarterback. Following his Senior season Lynn was voted MVP of the North-South Shrine Game. His 6208 career passing yards was the record at KSU for 38 years. His #11 is retired at KSU and he was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 1990.
Lynn was drafted in the 3rd round of the 1971 NFL Draft by the Houston Oilers. He played 5 seasons for the Oilers and his last ten with the Green Bay Packers. He led the NFL in passing yards and passing TD’s in 1983. He was voted into the Packers Hall of Fame in 1992.
Lynn is also in the State of Kansas High School Sports Hall of Fame and the State of Kansas Sports Hall of Fame.
Lynn and his wife Anamaria have been married for 21 years, have 4 children Natalie, Meredith, Elizabeth and Paloma and 5 grandchildren, Marley, Ellie, Jackson, Georgia and Callie.
Mr. Derrick Jensen, a 1974 graduate of Osawatomie High. Derrick played four sports while attending OHS earning multiple letters in Football and Track and Field and one in Basketball.
Derrick was an All-League selection in football as a center his Junior year before moving to running back his Senior year. That move paid off as he not only gathered All-League honors, but was 1st Team All-State for All Classes. His 2113 yards rushing that season shattered the OHS single season rushing record and led the entire state. Derrick helped lead the Trojans to a League Championship as a Junior, followed up by an incredible 12-0 3A State Championship in 1973.
Derrick was part of some great Trojan basketball squads. They compiled a 35-5 record during his Junior and Senior seasons winning the Pioneer League Title both years!
Derrick placed 3rd in the 60-yard-high hurdles at the 1973 State Indoor Track Meet. The Trojans got 2nd as a team missing out on a State Championship by one point.
Derrick chose to play college football for the University of Texas Arlington. He became the first player in Southland Conference history to rush for over 3000 yards. He finished with 3346. He was Conference MVP 2X, a team captain for 2 years and a 3rd Team All-American. He became a member of their Athletic Hall of Fame in 1987.
Derrick was a 3rd Round Draft Pick of the Oakland Raiders in 1978. He played in 106 games over the course of a 9 year NFL career, rushing for 780 yards and was a Special Teams Captain for 5 of those seasons. The Raiders won 2 Super Bowls during his tenure. He blocked a punt and recovered it for a touchdown in Super Bowl XVIII (18). He picked up a 3rd Super Bowl Ring during his 21 year career as a Scout for the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks Draft Room is named in his honor.
Derrick passed away in 2017. Family members include his mother Sharleen Jensen of Denver, sister Barbara Jensen of Denver, brother Steve Jensen of Osawatomie, sister Arleen Jensen Slayman of Olathe, son Davis Jensen of Panama City Beach, Florida and wife Lisa Green Jensen of Destin, Florida. Accepting this award on his behalf is his good friend Ike Brady.
Rodney Madden – 1980
Mr. Rodney Madden, a 1980 graduate of Osawatomie High. Rodney was a THREE SPORT athlete while attending OHS earning 3 letters each in Football and Track and Field and 2 letters in Basketball during his prep career.
Rodney was a multi-year starter for the Osawatomie Basketball program where they were back to back Pioneer League Champions in 1979 and 1980 compiling a 30-12 record. During his Senior League campaign, he earned 1st Team All-League Honors.
Rodney was a fantastic athlete for Coach Bill Rickman’s football program. He earned All-League Honors at Quarterback his Junior and Senior seasons. He compiled over 1000 combined passing/rushing yards as a Senior. He was also All-League and All-State Defensive Back both seasons. He intercepted 3 passes his Senior Campaign returning one for a Touchdown.
Rodney was also an exceptional Track Athlete during his High School career. He was part of two League Championships and qualified for State individually 3 years. He won 3 State Championships his Senior Year, doing so in the 110 High Hurdles, 100 Meters and the 200 Meters. He set State Records while winning the 100 and 200 Meters!
Rodney walked onto the University of Kansas Football Team. During this time, he was part of the 1981 squad that played in the Hall of Fame Bowl Game. He was also nominated for Big 8 Defensive Newcomer of the Year during his Jayhawk Career.
Rodney began a 35 year coaching/teaching career with Osawatomie School District in 1989. During this time, he served as Head Football Coach, Assistant Girls Basketball Coach and Head Track and Field Coach. He left Osawatomie as the 2nd winningest Coach in Trojan Football history. Along the way he led the Girls to a 2nd place finish at the 2003 State Track and Field Championship to go along with a 3rd place finish for the Boys at the 2010 State Track and Field Championship. He was named 2010 KCCTFCA Track and Field 4A Boys Coach of the Year. His program was named a Top 10 Program in Kansas All Classes 5 times during his tenure!
He also coached 25 individual State Track and Field Championships. Rodney said he was privileged to coach many great athletes, many of which were chosen as All-League and All-State. Our teams were always highly competitive with many great victories and upsets. My greatest accomplishment was the relationships and associations I was fortunate to foster and share with my players and coaches.
Rodney has been married to his wife Tanya for 40 years. Their 4 children and their spouses are Zach and Alyssa Madden, Lacey and Blake Draper, Haley and Cody Shaver and Darbey and Skyler Beam. They also have 11 grandchildren, Rhett, Boden, Henleigh, Lily-Jo, Barrett, Tripp, Rheaden, Dawsyn, Cooper, Ayla, and Isaac.
Jeremy Isenhower – 1998
Mr. Jeremy Isenhower, a 1998 graduate of Osawatomie High. Jeremy played three sports while attending OHS earning 4 letters in baseball, 3 letters in football and 1 in wrestling during his prep career.
Jeremy was a 3-year starter for the Osawatomie Baseball program. He was 1st Team All State his Senior Year and 1st Team All-League 3x. He still holds 5 school records including most home runs in a single season with 11. He was instrumental in leading the Trojans to a League Championship his Senior Year. After his Senior Year he played in the All-Metro game and the East/West All State Game.
Jeremy was an exceptional talent on both sides of the football for Coach Rodney Madden. He received All-League honors all 3 seasons including 1st Team Receiver and Defensive Back his Senior campaign. His 10 interceptions helped him land a spot on the All-State team. He is 1 of 4 Trojans to have over 1000 career receiving yards. His favorite accomplishment was getting State Player of the Week after helping the Trojans knock off their rival Paola Panthers his Senior Year. He was nominated for the Shrine Bowl, but was unable to play and played in the All-Metro Classic.
He was a part of a League Championship and was a state qualifier in wrestling his freshman year.
Jeremy attended Neosho County and Southwest Missouri State on a baseball scholarship. He was 4x All-Conference, 3x All-American, Conference Player of the Year, Region 6 Player of the Year, Rawlings Defensive Player of the Year and finalist for National Player of the Year. Jeremy was inducted into Neosho County’s Hall of Fame in 2015.
Jeremy was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 32nd round of the 2002 MLB draft. He was a 2x minor league All-Star.
After his baseball career, Jeremy became a star in slow pitch softball. He was a 2x Team USA selection and had his own selection line of softball bats and accessories. He was a 2020-21 USSSA Hall of Fame Inductee.
Jeremy is currently a hitting coach with over 400 of his clients drafted in the MLB draft. He has worked with over 100 MLB players, 11 All-Stars, including Bobby Witt Jr. and Bryce Harper.
Jeremy and his wife Natalie currently live in Tomball, Texas and have twin daughters Reese and Rileigh and a son Decker.
Mrs. Tayler Soucie Llewellyn, a 2013 graduate of Osawatomie High. Tayler was a THREE SPORT athlete while attending OHS earning FOUR letters each in Basketball, Track and Field and Volleyball during her prep career.
Tayler was a part of a Basketball League Championship and Sub State Runner Up during her four years on the hardwood for OHS. She was 2x 1st Team All-League and 2x Honorable Mention All-State. She currently holds school records with 1056 rebounds and 274 blocks. She is also in the top ten with 830 points.
Tayler was an exceptional Track Athlete for Coach Madden’s program excelling in the 100-meter hurdles. Overall she won 8 League titles, 6 Regional titles and 3 State Championships. She was named Tri-County Track Athlete of the Year 2x.
Tayler was also a dominant Volleyball player for Coach Darren Soucie. She propelled the Trojans to two League Championships and also Sub State Runner Up two times. Tayler was 3x All-League, 2nd Team All-State her Senior Year as well as 2nd Team All-Metro and Tri-County Spotlight Player of the Year. She led the country in 2012 with 779 kills!
Tayler took her talents to the University of Kansas after high school where she continued her success for the KU volleyball team. Tayler played a big part in the Jayhawks advancing to the first Final 4 in school history in 2015 as well as the program’s first League Championship in 2016. Some of her accomplishments are 2x 1st Team All-Big 12, 2015-2016 Big 12 Sportswoman of the Year, ranks 3rd at KU in attack percentage, 2nd in career blocks with 546 and holds the record for Blocks per Set. Tayler currently lives in Gretna, Nebraska with her husband Stephen. They have a 1-year-old son, Jack. She is a Physician Assistant in General Pediatrics.
